Generation Z is a generation that is intelligent, technical, and diverse in many different ways. Though the World War II generation has received the well-deserved title of the greatest, our generation today has many similarities along side them.
Much like them, our generation has fought through tough times. The World War II generation saw destruction through the Pearl Harbor attack. Our generation has seen some tragedy through things such as September 11th, 2001. World War II soldiers fought battles in other lands and gave their lives for their nation. Today, our troops go out to distant lands to preserve the rights of and help people in need, putting their lives on the line in the process. Gender discrimination is still prevalent today, and like their generation, our generation has fought against these prejudices. Women in that generation were given the chance to show that even though they were female, they were just as strong and independent as a man. In today's day and age the notion of feminism is still alive. Women today are fighting for social equality through diminishing double standards and slut-shaming, economic equality through equal pay, and political equality. During World War II, African Americans fought in the war against other country's forces. Today, African Americans are fighting a whole other battle of discrimination. Recently in the 2010's, police brutality against blacks in America became a great issue. The issue became so severe that even innocent black teenagers were being killed. African Americans are standing up today against this injustice through the Black Lives Matter movement, which is a protest that empowers blacks and teaches others that black lives are just as important as theirs. |
